An exciting opportunity to join an Australian general insurer in a newly created role in the Reinsurance team.
About the role:
- Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of the Reinsurance Management Strategy plan and roadmap of activities to optimise use of reinsurance.
- Coordinate, monitor and review all reinsurance related analytical functions and processes.
- Oversee the reinsurance budget & forecast process, including reinsurance spend, gross and net natural perils cost forecasting, and reinsurance cost allocations.
- Liaise with Product and Pricing Teams to ensure alignment of appropriate natural peril pricing with original products and reinsurance.
- Assist with quarterly and annual Board and Regulatory Reports.
About you:
- Newly/nearly qualified actuary with a minimum of 5 years of experience in reinsurance or capital.
- Technical understanding of catastrophe risk and experience with reinsurance catastrophe modelling, and the implications for reinsurance placement and purchasing.
- A strong understanding of Australian relevant natural perils and the catastrophe modelling undertaken to assess catastrophe risks, with an ability to explain these outcomes to a non-technical audience.
- Knowledge of key regulatory, capital and rating regimes and corporate financial concepts, and an understanding of the reinsurance functions and impact on the balance sheet and P&L of an insurance company.
