Our life insurance client is seeking a Senior Manager to lead and manage their reinsurance operations team. This role is based in Sydney.
About the role
- Proactive management of claim recovery and premium payment processes to ensure timely settlements with ongoing monitoring of outstanding balances and issues.
- Managing and mitigating reinsurance operational risk by overseeing all system related matters and downstream impacts while supporting change stemming from other areas within the business.
- Proactively engaging reinsurers and internal teams (Claims, Underwriting, Legal and Actuarial etc) to settle complex cases and disputes to ensure fair outcomes are achieved.
- Representing Reinsurance on internal and external projects as a Subject Matter Expert to ensure potential risks and issues are identified, quantified, managed and escalated where appropriate internally and externally (with reinsurers).
- Preparation of monthly operations reports and provision of reinsurance insights and assistance to other teams within the business for the purposes of completing and analysing valuation and profit results.
- Mentoring, supporting and coaching Reinsurance Analysts and taking an active role in developing team members to achieve company and development goals.
About you
- Minimum 5 years’ working experience in a Reinsurance Operational team within life insurance or reinsurance.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the life insurance industry and strong awareness of life insurance/reinsurance and accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail and ability to enhance controls and checking processes.
- Proven leadership skills – need to have managed teams with a minimum of 5 people in the past.
- Excellent communication ability (written and verbal) and effective stakeholder management skills.
