John Killick
Principal Consultant
Celebrating the differences and similarities of people, getting to know what makes a person ‘tick’, and understanding their personality, whether dour and serious or engaging and humorous, is a highly enjoyable part of John’s work. This valuable perspective on people has led to long and fruitful relationships with clients and candidates, alike. And it’s the reason John has enjoyed a long and successful career in recruitment and search.
John has more than 30 years’ experience recruiting actuaries, and other specialist financial services professionals, across the UK, European, Asian, New Zealand and Australian markets. He specialises in senior and mid-level assignments for Chief Actuary, Appointed Actuary, Product Actuary, Pricing Actuary, and other roles where actuarial and quantitative skills are highly valued, such as Analytics.
John is well-known for his market knowledge and his deep and broad networks within the actuarial profession. His ability to assess and translate client needs, listen deeply to candidates, and guide both parties collaboratively to an attainable and realistic solution, is notable.
One of the original Founders of SKL Actuarial,John co-resides in Sydney and Brisbane, where he services Life and General Insurance clients regionally and nationally. As a Co-Founder, John plays an integral role in the continued growth and development of the firm.
Seeing that people are dealt an ‘even hand’ in the recruitment process aligns with John’s strong sense of fairness – and he often goes the ‘extra yard’ to offer guidance, support, and advice to those struggling to see the possibilities in their future career path. Acting as a confidante, he has provided realistic advice to thousands of actuaries throughout their careers – helping them to reach – and rise above – their true career potential.
When John isn’t busy connecting his next candidate to their dream job, you’ll find him spending time with his family and friends, landscaping and getting his hands dirty in the garden, and enjoying all sports played at a high-level of expertise – but it’s mainly spectating these days.
Give John a call or send him an email – he’d love to hear from you.
