Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

SKL Executive (SKL) is conscious of our role as a contributor of employment and job opportunities within the community. We understand that to ensure our strong financial and operational performance within the community, we must be managing and assessing our social, governance and environmental sustainability risks. To achieve this, we are:

  • Building an engaged and skilled workforce
  • Establishing appropriate governance arrangements
  • Making a positive impact on the community
  • Managing our impact on the environment and our carbon footprints

Our Workforce

Our employees are central to helping SKL position itself as a respected and respectful agency within the actuarial recruitment space. SKL is committed to building an engaged, skilled and responsible workforce that are ethically guided by values and behaviours to support our sustainability. To do this, we:

  • Make clear the behaviours we expect of and from our employees
  • Strive to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Support employee wellbeing through subsidies, activities, and a safe workplace
  • Commit to protecting the confidentiality and position of employees who wish to raise matters concerning the integrity of SKL Executive

Company Culture and Conduct

We strive to instil and reinforce a work culture of acting lawfully, ethically, respectfully and responsibly because we know this is highly important to creating long-term value for the community. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of professional integrity, and stakeholder confidence, through the following policies which articulate the behaviours and practice of our company.

Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy

Please seeย hereย for a link to our Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy which:

  • States our responsibilities in observing and upholding our position against bribery and corruption in line with the governing laws and regulations of Australia
  • Lists expectations of SKL Executive from their workers regarding behaviours related to gift, payment or hospitality giving and receivals
  • Highlights disciplinary action by SKL Executive if a breach of this policy has been found to be taken by any workers of SKL Executive

Diversity and Inclusion

SKL Executive stands against all discriminatory behaviour. SKL Executive does not discriminate against employees or applications because of their race, colour, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, marital status, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic characteristic, sexual orientation, military status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law.

Equal Employment Opportunity Policy

We have an Equal Employment Opportunity Policy in place that is extended to all persons in aspects of a employer-employee relationship with SKL Executive, including recruitment, hiring, training, promotion, transfer, discipline, layoff, recall and termination.

Our focus on gender equality

Even though SKL Executive uses a merits-based approach for management levels and promotions, we are committed to aiming for equal gender representation at all levels.

As mentioned above, SKL Executive does not discriminate against anyone based on their gender identity and stands against any existence of bias or misconceptions of an employeeโ€™s capabilities and skills due to their gender and/or sex.

SKL Executive also implements gender-neutral policies and encourages a wide range of team-building exercises to help maintain and create an inclusive and comfortable workplace. This includes our parental leave policy which makes available paid and unpaid leave to all new parents at our workplace (including superannuation payments) regardless of gender.

Building and retaining talent

As we are highly aware that the market for talented and coveted employees is competitive, we make sure to not only provide attractive remuneration, but we offer learning and development opportunities, leadership training and support employee wellbeing programs.

We subsidise and encourage any of our employees to participate in events, programs and summits, whether industry-related or not, to help build their career and employability skills outside of their experience from their employment with SKL.

Employee Wellbeing

At SKL Executive, we aim to promote and encourage physical, mental and spiritual health suitable and inclusive for all our workers and employees wherever they are situated. We aim to support all employees to balance their work, personal and family life.

We subsidise private group yoga sessions in our office (or online during lockdown periods) weekly and are proud to sponsor any employees looking to participate in any charity runs and marathons.

We also subsidise purchase of books for any sort of reading by our employees and maintain a comfortable and hygienic resting corner for our employees to read or take a quick nap whenever necessary.

In addition, SKL Executive is conscious of upkeeping a stock of healthy and suitable fruits and snacks in our pantry and fridge available to all employees.

Education

SKL is committed to promoting industry transparency and industry information within the wider community and particularly within universities.

We sponsor many Australian universitiesโ€™ Actuarial Societies every year and are enthusiastic participants in those universitiesโ€™ Careers Fairs and other relevant events. We provide free consultations to students regarding actuarial studies and career information.

We are also avid sponsors of the Actuaries Institute and encourage many industry engagement activities, events and seminars through our sponsorships to promote industry information and transparency.

Volunteering and Charities

As SKL believe that volunteering and participating in charities is an important and interactive way that our employees can contribute to the community, we assist our employees to support worthwhile causes and participate in community and/or charity programs outside the workplace. This includes sponsoring marathons and runs for various charities such as City2Surf and Blackmores and allowing paid volunteering leave for our employees.

Environmental Responsibilities

We are a service-based company that do not extract physical or natural resources and are not involved in the manufacture or transport of products so our environmental footprint is small as it lies only within the resources used within our office and other places of work.

We have moved all our services and engagements online thus minimising our consumption of physical materials necessary for the running of our business. We recycle all paper printouts and use carbon-neutral consumables in our office space such as sponsoring each employee their own coffee keep cup. This is to minimise our workersโ€™ carbon footprint and waste production during the course of their employment.

SKL Executive aims to develop and encourage an ethos of environmental responsibility and awareness from all SKL workers.
